Tomorrow Julianna and I will be up, up and away making our way to New Jersey!
We are going to be surprising Julianna's GG(my grandma)! I can't wait to spend 8 days with her and the rest of my family! I am so excited!!
I have to admit that I am a teeny bit nervous for the flight. I am not nervous about flying. I am nervous about flying with my busy 7.5 month old on a 6 hour flight by myself! This will be the second time that Jules has flown to NJ. The first time was in March and she was a sleepy little 8 week old. My parents flew with us, which helped me feel at ease but this time will be different. I am hoping and praying that she will be happy and content sitting on my lap/holding her the entire time. Jules HATES being confined and trapped, she LOVES to be on the go and LOVES her own space...so...yeah, airplanes aren't exactly conducive to her personality at the moment. I know she isn't the first 7.5 month old to fly nor will she be the last but I am still anxious! I just don't want to be "that" mom who has a cranky, loud baby who annoys the other passengers. I am really, really hoping she will at least nap half of the flight. Aahhh, that would be glorious! Cross your fingers!!
I have a confession...
There is one more thing that I am slightly worried about and by slightly I mean, cringing at the thought of it....POOP! Not just any poop but the EXPLOSION kind. Jules has been on roll with these lately and I am hoping to avoid a poop situation on the plane at any cost!! Please pray her bowels will be kind!!!
Also, if anyone has any tips for me to make our flight easier, I would LOVE to hear them!
I am going to bring some puffs,mum-mums and a few new toys and books. I hope it will be enough to keep her occupied!
Have a WONDERFUL trip! Praying a for a safe and easy trip as well and that she may hold off on the poop if possible hahahaha!
ReplyDeleteI've flown with all 3 when they were babies. You may luck out with a napping child due to the motion. For an active baby, bring a few colorful baby toys that you know she likes to play with. If your baby takes a pacifier bring it as it can help with the pressure on the ears going up and down. Nursing or drinking from a bottle helps too, but you can't do that on take offs and landings. They have to be in the 'burp' position over the shoulder, braced by you. The flight attendant should go over their procedures with you. Find out too what kind of baby equipment travel policies they have. Most will allow stroller to the gate which is great. Also let her play on a blanket on the floor while you wait at the airport to get as much movement as possible. Some airlines try to seat you next to a vacant seat for baby to stretch out on, but there is no guarantee with that. I wish you well and have a great trip!
ReplyDeleteWe just took my almost 2 year old and 2 month old and it was quite interesting!! We had red eyes so we played a bit, filled her belly and I held her and snuggled her to go to bed!
ReplyDeleteI wish you so much luck, not that you'll need it though!
PS we call my grandmother GG as well!
Have a good and fun trip. Hope the flight will be easy.
ReplyDeleteHa, your poop fear made me laugh; I had that happen to me...BIG time. Kai was 4 months old and had been constipated for 3 days leading up to our flight back to LA. Of all places, he decided to let 3 days worth of poop go in 1 massive explosion somewhere above the Atlantic. Not pretty. He was literally covered from head to toe and the airline's bassinet in which he had been sleeping...well, I think they must have retired it after that flight.
On that note, hope you make it through the flight without any poops. Good luck and have a wonderful time!!
